The Beauty of Gaza, the Beauty of art

The Beauty of Gaza, the Gaza of Art är en serie jag skapade för konstutställningen The New face of Gaza som visades på kulturhuset i Stockholm i samband med Stockholms Internationella Seriefestival 2022. Serien är skapad i intervju-format och handlar om mina samtal med konstnärerna Rana och Eman Abudaher som bor i Gaza. I serien diskuterar vi kultur, vardagsliv och hur det är att skapa och uttrycka sig själv i en stad som omvärlden har så mycket fördomar om.

Rana spelar gitarr och Eman gör dokumentär-video och deras musik och video visades upp tillsammans med min serie på utställningen. Under seriefestivalen intervjuades jag och Eman om processen att skapa serien som programpunkt.

The Beauty of Gaza, the Gaza of Art is a comic I made for the art exhibition The New face of Gaza that was shown at Kulturhuset in Stockholm at the International Comics Festival 2022.It’s a comic in interview format, where I’m talking to Rana and Eman Abudaher, two artists from Gaza. In the interviews we discuss culture, daily life and what it means to express yourself in a city that the outside world has so many preconceptions about.

Rana is a guitarist and Eman is a videographer. Their music and video was on display together with my comic at the exhibition. At the comic festival, me and Eman was interviewed about the process of creating the comic.
